Your role
- You broaden our in-depth know-how of the devices through study and practical research.
- Based on the acquired knowledge, you develop and test new concepts that can improve the image quality and system reliability of the systems.
- You help define the technical specifications on the basis of which the R&D design teams can design a product with the expected reliability and print quality.
- You determine the value and scope of the process parameters that lead to an optimal compromise between image quality, performance and system robustness. If functional specifications are not met, you negotiate a compromise acceptable to all parties involved.
- You participate in the execution of system verification.
- You participate in designing and verifying the production and service resources needed to achieve the required image quality.
- You investigate system problems that arise during product development, during production or at customer sites.
- You report your investigation results to the process team leader, to the R&D discipline concerned and to the project manager.
- You ensure that you are aware of the research being carried out by other team members so that you can use your scientific training to help critically evaluate and explain the results, make connections and gain insight, formulate and test hypotheses and define follow-up research.
The Process Equipment R&D team has an opportunity for a new colleague with a scientific technical profile and a passion for multidisciplinary research and development of new systems.
A core task of the Process team is to understand and learn to control all the processes that determine the quality and reliability of these systems. The interactions between device, chemistry and consumables play a crucial role here.
Indeed, a deep understanding and mastery of these interactions is indispensable for the successful development of increasingly high-performance systems.
In addition to continuous expertise building, the Process team also makes its concrete contributions to the realisation of ongoing development projects.
New products are developed both entirely by our customer and in collaboration with various international partners.
This position requires a valid Belgian work permit

- You hold a PhD or Master's degree in Physics or have an equivalent qualification.
- Your passion and interest in engineering and science enable you to quickly familiarise yourself with our activities.
- You have an affinity for complex multidisciplinary systems with interactions between chemistry, electronics, mechanics and software.
- You think and work analytically and in a structured way.
- You strive for in-depth insight but always remain pragmatic and solution-oriented.
- You are observant when carrying out experiments and critical when analysing the results and formulating conclusions.
- You can communicate your knowledge and ideas clearly and in your argumentation you distinguish between facts and opinions.
- You work independently but always in open consultation and consensus with the other team members.
